Davie Kimm & Rocket RyanHi There! I am right in the heat of the summer rodeo season and I have stopped home for a week. It is actually my last week at home until September! I worked the Thermopolis, Wyoming PRCA Rodeo for Donna Vold Larsen. I had a good time; Triple V puts on a great show. Tim Fuller announced that rodeo and on Sunday we decided to go whitewater rafting. Now the Wind River is at its highest point since 1995 and we are talking class 4 rapids! It was wild; we had a great time and would like to thank Cody and the crew at Wind River Canyon Whitewater (www.windrivercanyonraft.com) for an intense experience! I also got to meet the great actor Wilford Brimley during our parade there, what a great guy! From there I went to Mobridge, South Dakota for the Fourth of July. The Fourth of July weekend is known as Cowboy Christmas in the rodeo world and is always a great time to be at a rodeo seeing friends. Despite a rainy and wet Friday performance it went really well and I got to work with my friend and the voice of Outback Outdoors Davie Kimm (www.daviekimm.com) I even got in the barrel and got knocked around when they turned out a fighting bull to sell the final perf. Now I have to get our Manitoba Bear footage edited for the next Webisode at www.outbackoutdoors.net then I’m off to Texas and Oklahoma for three weeks!

Ryan Manitoba bearHi Everyone… I just returned to Montana from Manitoba, Canada where I was on a bear hunt for Outback Outdoors. We hunted with Adrenaline Outfitters and let me tell you they are the real deal for big bears! They are offering a great program to get young people hunting where they will give a free hunt to a youth ages 12-18 when accompanied by an adult paying full price. I don’t know of any other outfitter offering a deal like this so spread the word and check them out or contact me and I can get you their info! It’s on the road I go now, to Thermopolis, WY and then Mobridge, SD for a couple PRCA shows. I will be running hard all summer but I’ll keep you updated often!

Well, I just got home to Montana from two great PBR events in Lexington KY and Providence, RI. I flew to Lexington to work a Lazy E Challenger Tour Event and as usual it was awesome. Charlie Throckmorton and Clint Adkins announced, Marc Stevenson ran sound and Mad Dog, Matt Baldwin and Bill Bass fought bulls. Lazy E’s events are like a BFTS without the television, they are so well produced and so much fun to work. At the end of the day JB Mauney rode three to take the win. I hear JB has been going to PRCA rodeos, anyone want to wager on him making the NFR? From Lexington I flew to NY to spend a week of downtime with my family. I ended up playing golf and bass fishing and had a relaxing week! I then ran down to Providence, RI to do an Enterprise tour event for Jerry Nelson. Racer Botkin announced, Richard Jones played the tunes and two outstanding young guns; Jacob Seaford and Casey Craigen fought bulls. Marvin Wycuff was nice enough to let the whole crew stay with him in his trailer that weekend, a decision I think he regrets! Austin Meier was your event champ and it was a great bull ride. Austin is also an avid outdoorsman just returning from British Columbia where he killed a B&C Black Bear, way to go man! Speaking of bears, Jim and I are leaving Saturday to go to Manitoba on a bear hunt for Outback Outdoors. When I get home from there, I start a long summer of rodeos in Thermopolis, WY. I will be in touch when we get back from Canada… Oh, by the way, check out the new uniforms!

Rocket Ryan NY turkeyI just got home to Montana after working a PBR Enterprise tour in Glens Falls, NY. Glens Falls is sort of my hometown, my rodeo hometown at least! I grew up there and started my rodeo career at the Painted Pony Championship Rodeo. The Painted Pony is now owned by my good friend Shawn Graham and not only did Shawn bring some great bulls to the event, but he also housed everyone’s bulls for the weekend, ran the bucking chutes, helped with production and his wife, Shana, carried the flag in our opening… six months pregnant! I’m very happy for Shawn and Shana and what they’ve built the Painted Pony into. It was a fun event with a lot of my old friends and almost my entire family in attendance. Since it was also Turkey season in New York, I stayed an extra week to chase birds with my Dad and also my buddy Sal and his dad, Big Sal. I haven’t hunted Turkeys in NY since I moved to Montana almost a decade ago and I wanted to kill one with my bow. This is really difficult on Eastern birds due to the hunting pressure and the wariness of these Turkeys compared to Merriam’s. We had a couple pretty good days at Sal’s with Big Sal calling in a bird that I smoked at 37 yards while Little Sal filmed. We then switched places and spun around while four more birds came to the call and Little Sal put one down for a really fun double! I’m home for about ten days then I fly out to do two PBR events; one in Lexington, KY and one in Providence, RI. Spring is here and summer is right around the corner!
