Well it’s a fresh new year and I am embarrassed to say I didn’t post on my log all season. I can make excuses as to 2011 being a busy year for me or excuses about extended road trips with no Internet….but the fact is I just didn’t get it done so excuses are weak! Well that’s the past and today is a new day and a new season for Rocket Ryan. My winter was full of PBR Touring Pro Events and last year saw me on the road more than ever working Rodeos in Washington, Idaho, Texas, South Dakota and even going to Canada a couple times to break into CPRA Rodeos up north. I had a ton of fun across the border and look to go back this season some more. I will also return to Texas over the fourth of July and for a week or two before and after. Belton, TX has become my favorite Rodeo of the year and Im sad that this will be my last year for a couple. I spent alot of time guiding here in Montana as well as in Wyoming this past year and I also hunted on camera for Hardcore Hunting TV regularly. 2012 promises to be an exciting year as well. I have already worked a PBR Touring Pro event in Toledo, OH and those Buckeye State PBR Fans are awesome! We had an incredible event and a really good time despite the blizzard and cold temps! I am still in the process of putting my schedule together for 2012 but I know I will return to Mesquite, Belton TX and Idaho Falls this summer for sure. I also bought a new trailer this past June and that made my life on the road alot more comfortable! Thanks to the Trailer Store in Huntsville, TX for the Exiss! I plan to roll the tires on the new rig as hard as ever this year traveling that Rodeo road I know so well. Please drop me a line, say hello when you see me and be sure to follow me on Twitter (@Rocket_Ryan) or Like my Facebook Fan Page! Thanks for the support and stay warm this winter!

I started my summer run off in Belton, TX for the Fourth of July. I love Texas and Texas over the fourth is about as American as Apple Pie! I worked with My good friends Charlie Throckmorton, Announcer, and Casey Deardorff, Sound. Charlie has been a great help to me throughout the years and I appreciate him very much. My old friend Mark Bennett fought bulls alongside Wes McManus who retired after the final perf there. It was great to be in Texas, see old friends and work one of the best rodeos I get a chance to be involved with. Thank you Keith Smith. Chad Lancaster and Cullen Pickett and I’ll be back next year for sure! From Texas I flew to Salt Lake to work a PBR, flew back to Texas and picked up my truck and trailer and then spent the remainder of July and August working PRCA Rodeos in Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, Wyoming, Montana and ended up in Rapid City, SD. I worked alot of rodeos this year and had a blast! It was a great summer and finished the season with two in September. Charlotte, MI and Bowman, ND. I got to work with good friends, make new friends and travel hard this year. Thanks to all the commitees, stock contractors, announcers and sound techs for making me look good this year. I have one more PBR to do next weekend then nothing until Vegas. Now most guys will Rodeo right thro September and October into November but as you all know, I take the fall off from Rodeoing to hunt, guide and work on outdoor TV production. This is my passion and the rodeo lifestyle affords me the opportunity to do this. By December after 120 straight days hunting Im ready for Vegas and to start going to PBR’s after the first of the year. I hope everyone has a good fall and keep in touch!

Well, Well, Well! Where do I start! I went to Everett WA for a Touring Pro PBR Event. Everett is just north of Seattle where Announcer Scott Grover and I shared a room right on the port. We ate some really good seafood between two fun performances and on Friday morning I received a phone call from the PBR office asking me if I could be on a plane the following Tuesday to go to Australia to finish the PBR Australia Tour! Who flies halfway around the world on three days notice? This guy! After calling Binion Cervi to be sure he could replace me in Clovis, NM (Thank you Binion!) I was home packing to catch a 14 hour flight across the Pacific. I flew into Brisbane and had a day to adjust with my good friend Matt West who has announced the PBR International tour the last year. Once I was there it was easy with Matt, Luke Snyder, Mckennon Wimberly, Harve Stewart, Rocky McDonald and some other American Bull Riders there to hang out with. Long story short I worked Brisbane and Sydney and we had great crowds at each event. The fans over there are awesome and yes its true Aussies are crazy! Thank you so much to the PBR Australia crew, Glen, Troy, Jackie, Wozza, Jude, Rach and Tim you guys rock! I hope to go back and finish the tour in November! Well Matt, Myself and Mad Dog flew back into Dallas after Australia and piled into Mad Dogs 97 Tahoe with chrome flames on the grill to road trip to Florida for a PBR in Ft Pierce. Now for two weeks in Australia the three of us talked about this trip and going to the beach. It was winter in Australia so we were sick of the rainy weather. Well we hit the beach in Pensacola on the way and ended up with a 6 hour lunch break getting us into Ft Pierce at 4 A.M.! Richard Jones was there to meet us and to mix sound and Darrel Diefenbach fought bulls with Mad Dog. If there is a better team than all of us I dont know what it is! We had a blast and after the perf we kidnapped Curt Blake for his birthday and spent a couple days with him and Richard on the beach! It was a nice little vacation for me and as I flew home from Tampa the boys were off to Ft Myers for another PBR. I came home and got the trailer ready and packed and I leave Sunday for Belton TX for the fourth of July. Belton starts my 2 1/2 month summer PRCA Run and Ill hit ten states over July and August livin on the road! Hope everyone has a great summer and please drop me an email, I look forward to hearing from you all!
Holy cow how time flies this time of year! I haven’t been able to get this page updated…I had plans to do updates weekly this year but with traveling, booking shows, hunting and producing our online Outback Outdoors show it seems like time slips away from me! I went to Yakima, WA for a PBR and worked with my good buddy Matt West announcing. This was a show for the PBR home office and I have to say that Matt and I, with Casey Deardorff on music, kicked some ass. As a matter of fact I know this will sound cocky but you just cant do any better than Matty and I at a PBR….period! After Yakima I flew right to Billings and took Pete Angle of Under Armour turkey hunting for a few days to help him with his single season slam. It wasnt easy but we got it done and had fun doing it!
From Montana I drove to Denver and caught a flight to DFW to work a PBR in Cleburne, TX for the Cowboys for Kids charity. What a great turnout we had for a wonderful organization! please check them out and do what you can to help. My friend, announcer Charlie Throckmorton got me involved in this event and with a celebrity turnout for our banquet and auction the night before and a great crowd for what turned out to be a super bull riding, I think we raised alot of money for the program. It was fun to work with Charlie and with Ben Benavides running sound and his video board. I really would like to stay involved in this program and do the PBR again next spring!
After Cleburne I flew back to Denver, got in my truck and after meeting Trevon on I-70 we headed west to Kansas for a week of Turkey hunting. For the first leg of our hunt I was to be the Under Armour hunter chasing turkeys with Dave Schotte’s Blue River Whitetails outfitting service. The really cool part of this is that it was for Harcore Hunting TV so Trev and I got to spend a week with our buddies JT Harden and Jason Irish, hosts of that show on the Pursuit Channel. Trev and I both are on their Pro Staff but as I had a rough hunting season last year I didnt get much air time! well I made up for that in Kansas killing two big birds and half of a grand slam in just a couple days! You have heard me talk about Under Armour in my recent blogs and as the new uniforms get produced I’ll post some pics, but the news is that I am an official Under Armour athlete now and as Jason Hart, the Hunt Fish sales Manager, likes to tell people-the only UA sponsored Rodeo Clown in the WORLD! haaa! I left Kansas after filming Trev and a hunt winner at Ray Howell’s Kicking Beards for Kicking Bear charity pro am Turkey hunt and went to Missouri for a couple days with JT. We hunted one morning and fished for Crappie that afternoon with Matt Morgan who runs the Sportsmen Legacy Foundation, another great charity, and it got me thinking that on this trip alone I was involved in three charities or programs with one common goal. Youth Mentorship! One program uses the western lifestyle and two use the outdoors to keep kids on the right path in life. I was fortunate to have a Father to do that for me and despite wearing make-up on the weekends I turned out pretty good! Alot of kids don’t have that and its something that you’ll see me get involved in throughout the next few years and you should too…After Missouri I headed to Texas to work the Bridgeport PRCA rodeo for Lancaster and Pickett Rodeo Co. Except for my mic crapping out during the second perf it was a fun rodeo, great committee and wonderful community. Well I have a long summer ahead of me and hope to do better with my updates but I make no promises! Please check my schedule, email me anytime and hopefully I’ll see you down the road!
